Mobile Phones

Advantages of Mobile Phone

When Adam (A.S) was sent to the Earth, he was not given any gadget to make his life luxurious. His early offspring used to travel on foot and live in forests. To convey some message to men living far away, pigeons or horse were used. To inform of danger, fire was burnt and its smoke indicated danger. But with the passage of time, man used his brain to invent the telegraph in 1838 for conveying messages. Some-one has wisely said,

I like my cell phone, my computer works just fine,

my calculator is perfect, but Lord, I miss my mind.”

Telephone was then invented by Graham Bell which made communication very easy and in 1873, Dr. Cooper invented the first handset weighing 1 kg. Thus the gadget, mobile phone came into being. Since then, new innovations are being brought in this gadget by companies like Apple founded by the late Steve Jobs who used his imagination and intelligence to give mobile phones the forms and innovation that no-one could imagine. As, it is rightly said,

“Every great advance in science has been

caused due to a new audacity of imagination.”

Mobile phone has revolutionized telecommunication. It can be used to stay in contact with people sitting at the other corners of the world. One can use mobile to inform one's family if one is going to be late. It can be used to call the police or ambulance in case of emergency, in a fraction of second. Mobile phones are very useful for staying in contact. It is used by the police officers to stay in touch during an encounter. Some-one has wisely said,

“Please, keep in touch with me,

I will tell you every secret of the world with my cell phone.”

The moments spent with family or friends during a pleasure trip or picnic party can be made eternal by capturing them as photos by the mobile camera. Viewing these pictures later on gives us pleasure. These beautiful moments can also be shared with others. Games, ring tones, e-books and songs, in mobiles give us relaxation after a hectic day. As, it is wisely said,

“Intellectual growth should commence

at birth and cease only at death.”

Hence, our mobile phone increases our knowledge even while we are sitting in our room. Mobile Internet at low GPRS rates has made work so easy for students. Sitting at their study desk, they can get information on any topic or can get their assignment completed in no time by using this facility. As, it is rightly said,

“Look up from your phone and see the world around you.”

Instead of going through hundreds of books for a small sentence, they can get the required sentence on a click. Mobile internet is also of great value for the businessmen because they can keep themselves aware of the rise and fall in the stock exchange and market demand. As, it is wisely said,

“Your worth is not determined by your online presence;

you are more than your phone.”

         Advantages of Mobile Phone

We know that every coin has two faces, so the mobile phone also has many disadvantages. The young generation has been corrupted because of it. Late night packages for calls and SMS are hazardous to the youth. Students waste their time in texting their friends all the time. The various applications in mobile have made students forget their studies. The fingers of young girls and boys are always seen typing one message after another. As, it is wisely said,

“Life’s most beautiful moments happen

when you least expect them, so put the phone down.”

The mobile internet is also being abused. Immoral websites are extensively viewed instead of Google or Wikipedia. Students have thrown away books. Instead of learning from books, mobile phones have become chewing gum for eyes. This has made our youth snobbish with empty minds. As, it is rightly said,

“Everything is for the eyes today and nothing

is just for the mind. We will have a young generation

with eyes as big as cantaloupes and no brains at all.”

The quality of time that was spent with family has been gobbled by mobile phone. Every member of the family, from a kid of class 6 to the head, though sitting together, is absorbed in his own cell phone. Parents thus do not give proper time to their kids and kids hence become astray. Mobile phone is indeed an invention of rudeness. It has made us indifferent and careless from our family. Family traditions have been given up. As, it is wisely said,

“Chewing gums have replaced words today and

cell phones are gifted instead of books.”

Now-a-days, people are wasting their money in buying expensive mobile phones. There is a rat race for the most expensive one and the price of mobile phone has become status symbol. Including this, I would like to say that every invention has its pros and cons. Mobile phones have many advantages but it is a fact that whenever scientists make an invention, the devils grab it while the angels discuss the best way to use it.

“Don’t let your phone be the boss of you.”

So, the advantages of mobile phones have been blurred by their disadvantages. They are also a cause of disease like brain stroke, headache, ear defects, weakening of eye sight, irregularity of heart beat due to its radiations. It is the need of the hour that government should take initiative steps to control the abuse of mobile phones.

“Your phone can be a tool,

but it should never be your whole world.”

Mobile companies should be ordered to ban late night packages in order to protect the youth. The use of cell phones should be banned in colleges and schools. Yes, mobile phones can become a fountain of knowledge but sadly, we have forgotten to make good use of knowledge! As, it is rightly said,

"Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge?

Where is the knowledge? We have lost in information?"
