Q. 1. What was the condition of the parents at the arrival of the doctor? (GJB 2012)

Ans: The parents were very nervous, when the doctor came. They were looking at him distrustfully. They were worried and confused about the health of their child.

Q. 2. What was the behaviour of the child with the doctor? (L.B 2006, 2014, 2016)

(G.B 2013, 2014, 2016)

Ans: The child looked at him with her cold steady eyes. She behaved rudely with him. Even, she fought with him to stop him from examining her throat.

Q. 3. She had a fever for three days. Hadn't she?

Ans: Yes, she had a fever for three days.

Q. 4. Did the girl change her expression when the doctor said, "Does your throat hurt you?"

Ans: When the doctor asked the child about her throat, the little girl's expression did not change.

Q. 5. Why did doctor call the sick girl by her first name? (L.B 2008, 2006, G.B 2013)

Ans: The doctor called the sick girl by the first name as a bit of genteel coaxing. In this way, he wanted to his kindness and friendliness.

Q. 6. Did the sick girl promptly respond to the doctor's instruction?

Ans: The sick girl did not respond promptly to the doctor's instruction. Rather, she behaved badly with him. Even, her parents could not persuade her to show her throat.

Q. 7. Why did the parents rebuke her? OR Why did the parents rebuke their sick daughter? (L.B 2008)

Ans: The girl behaved badly with the doctor. She attacked at him and threw his glasses away. Therefore, the parents rebuked her for such rudeness.

Q. 8. What was the threat of the doctor to the child for not showing her throat?

Ans: The doctor asked the girl to let him examine her throat. Otherwise, he threatened her to use force to open her mouth for examining her throat.

Q. 9. Why did she break the wooden blade? (L.B 2016)

Ans: The sick girl did not want to open her mouth for the doctor's inspection. When the doctor tried to open with the wooden blade, she broke it into pieces. She could not bear the use of force against her.

Q. 10. What was the condition of tonsils of the sick girl?

Ans: Both the tonsils were in bad condition. They were covered by a thin membrane. They had caused throat infection. Thus, the girl was ill with fever. She was suffering from Diphtheria.

Ans. She was sitting in the lap of her father. She was fairly eating him up with her cold steady eyes. She was breathing rapidly.

Q. 3.Why did the parents keep the sick child in the kitchen? (L.B 2007)

Ans. Rooms were very cold. So, the kitchen was a warm place. She was breathing rapidly. They considered her to be suffering from Diphtheria.
