Q. 1. What was the cause of Negros' Discontentment? (L.B 2014, G.B 2012, 2013, 2015)

Ans. The cause of Negro's discontentment was that they were considered inferior in America. They were not given their due rights. There had been racial prejudice between the Black and the White.

Q. 2. What are the qualities of the veterans of creative suffering? (L.B 2013, 2013, 2014,

(G.B 2016)

Ans. Following are the qualities of the veterans of creative suffering.

Ø They face trials and tribulation with courage.

Ø They do not wallow in the valley of despair.

Ø They face the brutality of the police and storms of persecution.

Ø They continue to work that unearned suffering is redemptive.

Q. 3. What is the dream of Martin Luther King Jr.? (L.B 2008, 2012, 2015, G.B 2015)

Ans. Martin Luther King Jr. dreams that there will be no racism in America. There will be rule of brotherhood, equality, justice and freedom. People will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of character.

Q. 4. What should be the faith of Negros? (G.B 2013)

Ans. According to Martin Luther King Jr. the Negroes should have a faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. They should have a strong belief that one day, they would get the reward for their sacrifices and struggles. These trials, tribulations and sufferings would pave the way of their freedom.

Q. 5. What was the necessity of pleading the case of the Negroes' freedom?

Ans. It was necessary to plead the case of the Negroes' freedom because of the following reasons.

Ø They were treated like slaves.

Ø They were considered inferior to the White people.

Ø They could not enjoy their basic rights.

Ø They could become a cause of violation for peace of America.

Ø If they had not been given equal rights, they would have remained in the state of slavery.

Q. 6. What should be the criterion of judgement for a person? (L.B 2007, 2016)

Ans. The criterion (principle) of judgement for a person should be his character. He should not be judged by his physical appearance. He should be judged fairly without any discrimination.

Q. 7. Do the Negroes enjoy liberty in all the parts of their country?

Ans. No, the Negroes do not enjoy liberty in all parts of their country. The racial discrimination is found in different parts of America.

Q. 8. From which part of the country did the Negroes gather there?

Ans. Negroes gathered there from all parts of the country including Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina Georgia, Louisiana and the Northern Cities. They joined in the freedom movement of Martin Luther King Jr.

Q. 9. Write down the song in your own words.

Ans. My country is a sweet land of liberty. I sing for this land where my forefathers died. It is a land of pilgrims' pride. There should be freedom in every part of it.

Q. 10. What is the effect of repetition of words?

Ans. Repetition of words is an important technique to keep the audience alive. It leaves a deep effect on the mind of audience. In this way, it is easy to inculcate the subject matter.
