In the Street of Fruit Stall

Q. 1. What do the wicks do in the street of the fruit stalls?

Ans. Wicks balance flame in the street of the fruit stalls.

Q. 2. What kind of dew does fall in the street of the fruit stalls?

Ans. A dark dew falls in the street of the fruit stalls.

Q. 3. How do the fruit look like to the poet? (L.B. 2009)

Ans. The fruit look like cannon balls to the poet.

Q. 4. In which form do we find the fruit in the street of the fruit stalls?

Ans. Various fruit are piled up in a conical form in the street of the fruit-stalls.

Q. 5. How do the fruit glow from within?

Ans. The fruit glow red-hot, gold-hot, from within.

Q. 6. What do the dark children find?

Ans. They find the moon and the sun in shapes of melon, guava and mandarin just because of the effect of light on them.

Q. 7. What do the dark children have when they enter the lantern's orbit?

Ans. Dark children have a coin to spend when they enter the lantern's orbit.

Q. 8. What happens when the children break open the fruit?

Ans. When the children break the fruit, a gold or silver fountain of juice comes out and they dip their mouths, fingers, cheeks, noses and chins.

Ans. They look radiant like lanterns.

Ans. They forget the painful situation the poet is in.

Q. 11. Which parts of children's body are involved while eating fruit? (L.B. 2008)

Ans. Their mouths, fingers, cheeks, noses and chins are involved while eating fruit.

Q. 12. How do the fruit appear to the children?

Ans. The children are so happy that various fruit arranged in the street appear to them, the moon and the sun.

Q. 13. What is the theme of the poem?

Ans. The poem describes that the world is threatened by war, misery and poverty. But all these things have failed to crush man's love for pleasures.
