The Night Mail

Ans. Night Mail is a train that brings letters, postal orders and cheques for people belonging to every walk of life.

Q. 2. What does the Night Mail cross and why? (GWB. 2011)

Ans. The Night Mail crosses the Border to bring the cheques and the postal order.

Q. 3. What does the Night Mail bring? (LB. 2007, 11) (RWB. 2009)

Ans. It brings letters for the rich, for the poor, for the shopkeepers and the love-letters

Q. 4. What tries to hinder the speed of Night Mail and how does she react?

Ans. The slope tries to hinder the speed of Nigh Mail but she always reaches on time.

Q. 5. Where does the Night Mail throw steam from?

Ans. It throws steam over its shoulder.

Q. 6. What kind of noise does the Night Mail produce?

Ans. The Night Mail snorts noisily.

Q. 7. How does the Night Mail pass the cotton grass and moorland boulder?

Ans. It passes the cotton grass and moorland boulder by shoveling white steam over shoulder.

Ans. It passes from a wide range of landscape. It climbs up smoothly over small hills. Sometimes, it moves down the plains and grassy fields present on the slope.

Ans. The birds turn their heads when the Night Mail approaches.

Q. 10. Where do the birds stare from bushes?

Ans. They stare from bushes at the Night Mail's blank-faced coaches.

Q. 11. Why do the sheep dogs continue to sleep on the arrival of the train? Or How do the sheep-dogs react at the arrival of the train? (LB. 2006, 09, 11, 15)

Ans. The sheep-dogs continue to sleep on the arrival of the train because they can't turn its course.

Q. 12. Does the Night Mail disturb the life on farm? How do the sheep-dogs behave on her arrival? (LB. 2008)

Ans. The Night Mail does not disturb the life on farm at all. The sheep-dogs keep on sleeping while spreading their paws on its arrival.

Q. 13. How do the sheep-dogs sleep?

Ans. They sleep with their paws across.

Q. 14. What happens when the Night-Mail passes through the farm?

Ans. No-one wakes when the Night Mail passes through the farm. Only, a jug in a bedroom

shakes gently.

Ans. Night Mail is a train that brings mail from various parts of the country containing letters, postal orders and cheques. It brings letters for the rich and the poor, for the shopkeepers and the love-letters. It gives equal treatment to every person. It is very punctual. It passes through a wide range of landscape and hills. Everybody has become habitual of it. No-one wakes when the Night Mail passes through the farm. Only, a jug in a bedroom shakes gently.
