The Delight Song

Q. 1. What do you understand when the poet says, “I am the shadow that follows a child”?

Ans. The poet says that he feels harmony with the shadow of child. He wants to be happy at every cost. He shows his exuberance about life. The childhood fascinates him. He is willing to follow such a happy life as a shadow that follows a child.

Q. 2. How can the crust of the snow glitter?

Ans. The crust means the hard surface of the snow. It is frozen and becomes a mirror. It reflects sunlight and glitters.

 Q. 3. What is the dream of the poet?

Ans. The poet dreams that he is enjoying a blissful life full of colours. There is nothing like sadness. He has learnt to live a happy life. He is happy and contented with the dream of all bright and beautiful things.

Q. 4. What is the effect of man’s good relation with the earth and lords?

Ans. If man has good relations with the earth and lord, he remains happy.

Q. 5. What are the things that keep a person alive?

Ans. A person should stand in good relation to the earth, to the lord, to all that is beautiful and to that is fruitful. This relationship keeps a person alive.

Q. 1. Why does the poet call himself a feather?

Ans. The poet is happy and feels very light. He calls himself a feather because it is very light and can freely move in the air.

Q. 2. What is the significance of the blue horse?

Ans. Blue horse does not exist in this world, therefore the poet calls himself blue horse.

He compares himself with the most extraordinary things.

Q. 3. The poet calls himself the cold of dawn and the roaring of the rain. How would you justify it?

Ans. The poet shows his changing moods in this poem, because he is full of delight. He says himself the cold of the dawn because of the soothing and refreshing effect of it. The roaring of the rain depicts the hidden power. He also wants to be powerful.

Q. 4. What is the theme or message of the poem?

Ans. The poet gives us the message that if we keep good relationship with other human beings and with nature, we can live a happy life.
