The Rain

Q. 1. What does the poet hear in "The Rain"? (FSB. 2009)

Ans. The poet hears the sound of leaves drinking rain water and giving the drops of rain from the top leaves to the leaves beneath them.

Q. 2. What does the rich leaves give to the poor beneath?

Ans. The rich leaves on top give drop after drop to the poor beneath.

Q. 3. What impression does the sound of rainfall create on the poet? (L.B. 2008)

Ans. The sound of rain gives a nice, sweet and pleasant expression to the poet.

Q. 4. How does the poet feel when he hears green leaves drinking rain?

Ans. The poet feels happy because it was sweet noise to hear, green leaves drinking rain.

Q. 5. What will happen when the rain stops? (GWB. 2009)

Ans. When the rain stops, the sun will come out.

Q. 6. What will the wondrous light do? (FSB. 2011)

Ans. The wondrous light will fill each dark round drop.

Q. 7. What is the hope of the poet?

Ans. The poet is hopeful that the sun will shine brightly and make the sight lovely.

Q. 8. Why does W.H. Davies hope to have a lovely sight after rain? (L.B. 2007)

Ans. W.H. Davies is hopeful to have a lovely sight after rain because he is an optimistic person and wants to see this world a happy place. He thinks that rain will wash every speck of dust and make everything lovely.

Q. 9. What kind of a message does the poem "The Rain' convey?

Ans. The poem gives us a message of optimism that one day, the sunshine will brighten and sparkle every dark place.

Ans. The sunshine symbolizes a time in future, when there will be justice and equal distribution of resources between the rich and the poor.

Ans. Symbolically, the poem can be studied as an optimistic thought. Rich or upper leaves symbolize rich people and the leaves beneath symbolize the poor in our society. The poet is hopeful that there will be equality in the society. He says that the rich people enjoy all the blessings of Allah and they give least to the poor.
