Active Passive of

Past Continuous Tense

Recognition in Urdu:       رہا  تھا،  رہی تھی،  رہے تھے،

Method of Making/Changing into P.V

Active: Subject + was, were + 4th form + Object.

          They were learning English.

          He was teaching us English. (Double object)

Passive: Object + was, were + being + 3rd form + by + Subject.

          English was being learnt by them.

          We were being taught English by him.

I, He, She, It and Singular noun-------- was

We, They, You and Plural noun ------ were

Method of Negative Making

Active: Subject + was, were + not + 4th form + Object.

          They were not learning English.

Passive: Object + was, were + not + being + 3rd form + by + Subject.

          English was not being learnt by them.

Method of Interrogative Making

Active:  Was, Were + Subject + 4th form + Object?

          Were they learning English?

Passive: Was, Were + Object + being + 3rd form + by + Subject?

          Was English being learnt by them?

in the river.

A noise was not being made by boys

 in the class.

Neg: Father was not reading the newspaper.

The newspaper was not being read by father.

Neg: They were not decorating the school.

The school was not being decorated 

by them.

Neg: We were not taking exams.

Exams were not being taken by us.
