A Farmer and His Three Sons

Once, an old farmer lived in a village. He was respected for his wisdom throughout the village. People used to get advice from him. He had three quarrelsome sons. The farmer was very upset about them. He advised them not to quarrel but they paid no heed. There was no day of the week, when they did not quarrel because they did know this fact.

"There is more power in unity than division."

One day, the farmer fell seriously ill. He decided to teach his sons the lessons of unity. He asked them to fetch a bundle of sticks. They soon brought it. He asked them to break the bundle of sticks. The sons tried it one after the other but could not break it. At this, the farmer asked them to untie the bundle and break the sticks one by one. They did it easily. As, it is wisely said,

"A house divided against

itself cannot stand."

The farmer wisely taught them the lesson of unity. He said to them that the sticks were strong when they were tied together but were easily broken separately. He told them that if they would remain united, nobody could defeat them. But individually, they could be defeated easily. His sons realized their fault and promised to be united in future.

"Where there is unity, there is always victory."

“Union is Strength” is a well-known proverb. It means that several people working together are much stronger than many working separately. The path of unity always pays better prospects. Team efforts create quality of unity in every field of life and promises fast result. As, it is wisely said,

"Unity is strength, when there

is team-work collaboration."

The story of a farmer and his three sons shows the essence of the above given proverb that
