Moral Story No: 39
Think Wisely, Act Quickly.
The Cap-seller And the Monkeys
Once, there was a cap-seller. One
day, as usual, he started for the market with his caps. On the way, he found a
shady tree. He thought of taking a rest under it. He put his ten caps on the
ground and lay down near them. Soon, he went to sleep.
When the cap-seller woke up, he did
not find any of his caps. He was very surprised and in fact was horribly
shocked. He looked around and also upwards. He saw ten monkeys sitting on the
tree each wearing a cap. He thought of catching the monkeys to get his caps
back. But it was not easy to do so in a normal way.
After some careful thought, the
cap-seller hit upon a novel (very new) idea and at once started acting on it.
He snatched his cap off his head and threw it down on the ground. The monkeys
were looking at him. They also snatched the caps off their heads and
threw them down. Thus, the monkeys copied the cap-seller. He got all his caps
back through his wise planning.
Moral: Think wisely, act quickly.
