Do Good, Have Good

The Lion and the Mouse

Once, there lived a lion in a certain jungle. A mouse also lived there in a hole nearby. One day, the lion was sleeping under the shining sun. It was the winter season. The mouse came out of his hole. He climbed over the lion's body and began to run and jump about. The lion woke up. He was filled with anger. He caught the mouse. He wanted to kill him. The mouse said, "Have pity on me. Please spare my life, I might help you some time."

The lion laughed and set him free. A few days later, the lion was caught in a hunter's net. He was quite helpless. He roared angrily. The mouse heard the roar and ran to the spot. His heart was filled with pity to see the lion in trouble. At once, he began to bite the ropes. Before long, the lion was free. He was greatly thankful to the mouse.
