Moral Story No: 35

As You Sow, so Shall You Reap

The Fox and the Crane

             There lived fox and a crane in certain forest. They were friends and lived together. But they did not trust each other. Once, the fox invited the crane to dinner. But he wanted to make a fool of his guest. He put some soup in a flat dish and waited for the arrival of his guest.

          When the crane came, he sat down with him beside the soup-dish. It was impossible for the crane to eat anything. He was very angry. The fox had kept him hungry. The fox ate up everything and the crane had to return home as hungry as ever. He decided to teach the fox a lesson.

           After a few days, the crane invited the fox to dinner. He put some boiled rice in a narrow necked jar and waited for his guest. When the fox came, the crane sat with him beside the jar.  Now the fox was unable to eat and the crane finished up everything. The fox was as hungry as ever and returned home angrily. He had been punished for his trick. At this, the fox was ashamed of his behaviour.

Moral: i. Tit for Tat.

ii. As you sow, so shall you reap.
