Moral Story No: 33

Greed is a Curse

A Strange Hen

             There lived a young man in a certain village. He got a strange hen by chance. It laid a big and beautiful golden egg every day. He was very lucky. He was much pleased. He sold the golden egg at a high price. So he became a rich man in a number of days.

             But he was very greedy and selfish man. He was too impatient to wait for several months. He wanted to become rich over-night. He killed the hen in order to get all the eggs in one day. But he was greatly disappointed to see that it had only one egg. He had lost a golden chance due to his foolishness. 

Moral: i. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.

ii. Greed is a curse

iii. It is no use crying over spilt milk.
