Moral Story No: 31

Greed is a Curse

The Dog and his Shadow

             Once there was a greedy dog. He lived in a forest. He used to go to the city in search of food. One day, he went to a butcher's shop. He stole a piece of meat from the shop and ran away. He took the way to the forest. He had to cross a bridge over a stream. When he was passing over the bridge, he saw his own reflection in the clear water. He thought that there was another dog with a large piece of meat in his mouth. He wanted to get that piece too. He jumped into the stream and opened his mouth to get the other piece. In this way, his own piece of meat fell into  the water. Thus, he lost his own piece of meat and could not get the other.

Moral: i. Greed is a curse

ii. Do not be greedy.
