Moral Story No: 30

Quarrelling is always harmful.

Two Cats and a Monkey

Once upon a time, two cats lived in a certain jungle. One day, they happened to find a piece of cheese. They wanted to divide it into two halves. But they could not divide it equally. They began to quarrel with each other.

An old monkey appeared on the scene. He offered his services to act as a judge. He took a pair of scales and put a piece on each side. One side was heavier than the other. Eating a little out of it, he put it on the side again. This time, the other piece became heavier. He ate a little out of that and put it back on the side.

But still, the two pieces were not equal. He went on eating the pieces little by little. The two cats were surprised to look that only two small but unequal pieces were left behind.

They requested the judge to let them have one each. But he ate those up saying that it was his fee for deciding the case. The two cats went away helplessly. Hence, they lost the whole piece of cheese as a result of their folly and quarrel.

Moral: Quarrelling is always harmful.
