The Foolish Stag
Once,
a stag was drinking water at a stream. He drank water to his fill. Suddenly, he
saw his reflection in the clear water. He was extremely delighted to see his beautiful
horns. He felt very proud and admired the grace of his horns. As, it is wisely
said,
"Pride goes before destruction,
And arrogant spirit goes before a
fall."
Suddenly, he caught the sight of his thin and lean legs. He
was ashamed of his thin and weak legs. He felt disgusted for his legs. He
heaved a miserable sigh and said,
"It is unfortunate to have such
beautiful horns,
With so ugly and thin legs."
While he was feeling disgusted for his weak legs, he heard
the howls of hounds. Then he saw a pack of hounds running towards him. Seeing
the hounds, he started to run towards the forest. Soon, his thin legs carried
him away from the hounds. As, some-one has rightly said,
“God has made nothing useless.”
While
passing through the forest, his beautiful and strong horns got entangled in the
bushes. He struggled very hard to get himself free but all in vain. As, it is
rightly said,
"Appearances are often
deceptive."
Soon,
he was over taken by the hungry hounds. They fell upon him and tore him into pieces.
His ugly and thin legs helped him to run very fast to save his life, but his
beautiful horns brought about his death. As, it is wisely said,
"Pride hath a fall."

All that Glitters is
not Gold
The Foolish Stag
As,
some-one has rightly said,
“All that glitters is not gold.”
It is
a very famous saying. It means that appearances are often deceptive. We should
not be misled by the attractive appearance of things and people because what
appears good and beneficial may prove ugly and destructive for us. As, it is
rightly said,
"Appearances are often
deceptive."
The following story
illustrates the truth of the above quotation.
Once,
a stag arrived at a stream to quench its thirst. He drank water to his fill. Suddenly,
he
caught the sight of his
reflection in the clear water. He was extremely delighted to see his beautiful horns.
He felt very proud and admired the grace of his horns. As, it is wisely said,
"Pride goes before destruction,
And arrogant spirit goes before a
fall."
Suddenly, he caught the sight of his thin and lean legs. He
was ashamed of his thin and weak legs. He felt disgusted for his legs. He was
dissatisfied and discontented with his slender and slim legs. He heaved a miserable sigh and said,
"It is unfortunate to have such
beautiful horns,
With so ugly and thin legs."
While he was feeling disgusted for his weak legs, he heard the
howls of hounds from a distance. Then he saw a pack of hounds running towards
him across the field. Seeing the hounds, he started to run towards the forest.
Soon, with the help of his thin legs, he was well away from the hounds. As,
some-one has rightly said,
“God has made nothing useless.”
All of a sudden, he had to cross thick
bushes grown here and there. While passing through them, his beautiful and
strong horns got entangled in the bushes. He struggled very hard to get himself
free but all in vain. As, it is wisely said,
"All that glitters is not gold."
Soon
he was over taken by the hungry hounds. They fell upon him and tore him into
pieces.
His ugly and thin legs helped
him to run very fast to save his life, but his beautiful horns of which he was so proud, brought about his death. As,
it is wisely said,
"Pride hath a fall."
