Might is Right

The Wolf and A Lamb

Once, a wolf lived in a jungle. One day, the wolf was very hungry. He looked for his prey here and there but could not find anything. At last, he reached a stream. There he saw a lamb. The cunning wolf hit upon a plan to eat the poor lamb. He walked towards the lamb and said,

"O poor creature, why are you

making the water muddy and dirty?"

The lamb was much surprised to hear this. The lamb said that the water was flowing from the wolf side. The wolf was at higher place and the lamb was on the lower side of the stream. The wolf felt ashamed as his trick did not work. He could not bear his insult. He thought of another trick. He said,

"You are the one who insulted me last year.

Tell me why have you abused me?

Startled by the charge, the lamb answered that he was only six months old. How could he disrespect to him the last year. The wolf was speechless. However, the wolf was snorted and said,

“The weak is always wrong whereas the

mighty is never supposed to be wrong.”

The wolf said, "If it was not you, it must have been your mother." The lamb cried for help. He gave many logics to him but any of his logics could not impress the wolf. Soon, the wolf pounced upon the poor creature and tore him into pieces.

“Ruthless power justifies itself at the

expense of the poor and the weak.”

Might is Right

The Wolf and A Lamb

"Might is Right" is a very famous proverb. It means, one who is powerful and mighty always dominates in this world. There is no law for the mighty one. One who is powerful always tries to suppress the weak by one’s ruthless and cruel attitude. The weak one has no voice in this world.

“Ruthless power justifies itself at the

expense of the poor and the weak.”

The following story illustrates the truth of the above statement. Once, a wolf lived in a jungle. One day, the wolf was very hungry. He looked for his prey here and there but could not find anything. In this desperate condition, he reached a stream. All of a sudden, he found a lamb. The cunning brain of the wolf began to work. He hit upon a trick to make an excuse to attack and tear apart the poor lamb. He walked towards the lamb and said,

"O poor creature, why are you

making the water muddy and dirty?"

The lamb was much surprised to hear this. The lamb said that it was false allegation because water was flowing from the wolf side.

"Do not behave like those who believe that might is right."
