Stopping by Woods on Snowy Evening

              This beautiful poem was written by a famous poet “Robert Frost”. It was published in his collection called “New Hampshire”. Robert Frost was a well known poet. His poetry describes his sentiments and emotions. In this poem, the poet describes the pleasant experience of the speaker looking at the nature. As, it is wisely said,

“Nature is the art of God.”

 One day, when the poet was returning home after an unsuccessful trip at the market. When he reached the dark and thick forest, which was very beautiful and attractive. The forest was so enchanting and awe-inspiring that the poet was compelled to stop his sleigh to watch the snow falling in the woods. As, it is rightly said,

“A thing of beauty is joy forever.

           At first, he worried that the owner of the property would be upset by his presence, but then he remembered that the owner lived in the nearby village, so he was free to enjoy the natural beauty of the falling snow. As, it is wisely said,

“The poetry of the earth is never dead.

The sleigh horse was confused by his master’s behaviour stopping far away from any farmhouse without any particular reason. As, it is wisely said,

Between the woods and frozen lake

The darkest evening of the year

      In the end, he realized that he had other duties too. He had to fulfill his promises and realizing this, he came out of fantasy and left for home.

Stopping by Woods on Snowy Evening

               This is one of the most read and loved poems of a famous poet “Robert Frost” which was published in his collection called “New Hampshire”. Robert Frost is a well known poet.  

In this beautiful poem, the poet has depicted the scene of him or the speaker stopping by the dark and thick forest which is very beautiful and attractive. The poet was inspired by a charming forest, when he was returning home after an unsuccessful trip to the market. As, it is wisely said, 

“I believe that there is s subtle magnetism in nature, which

if we unconsciously yield to it, will direct us right.”

 Realizing that he did not have enough to buy Christmas presents for his children, Frost was overwhelmed with depression and stopped his sleigh to watch the snow falling in the woods, which has made him stop there. As, it is rightly said,

“A thing of beauty is joy forever.

       At first, he worries that the owner of the property will be upset by his presence, but then he remembers that the owner lives in town and he is free to enjoy the beauty of the falling snow.       The poet in the next stanza admires the flawless beauty of the woods. In the end, he realizes that he has other duties too. He has to fulfill his promises and realizing that he comes out of fantasy and faces reality. As Walt Disney has rightly said,

“I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter”.

After sometimes, the sleigh horse gives his bells a shake confirming that there might be some mistake, and Frost was cheered enough to continue home.

Truly, this poem has made us realize our promises and purpose of coming to this world. His work will enlighten readers for many years to come. He is a legend and his poetry will always stay alive. As, it is wisely said, 

“The poetry of the earth is never dead.”
