Letter No: 17

Letter for Normal Students

Write a letter to your father/mother about your view of hostel life.

Or Telling him/her why you dislike hostel life.

 Examination Hall,

A.B.C. (City)

May 26, 2023.

          Dear Father,

Asslam-o-Alaikum! I hope, you will be in the best of health and spirits (mood). As, it is wisely said,

“Health is wealth”

Your letter reached me yesterday in which you have asked about my present hostel life. Here I am happy with so many friends and classmates. Though, I

remember you all. I never feel lonely. In the evening, after tea we play games like carom and table-tennis and watch TV for half an hour. Then, start our study hours, which continue till about 10:30 p.m. with a break of half an hour for dinner. As, some-one has wisely said,

“Study at proper time and play when it is time to play,

keeps the diseases away.”

I like the pattern of hostel life and feel that after I leave college, I shall miss it greatly. At night, I have comfortable sleep in my room that I share with another senior student. By good luck, he is very friendly. He helps me often with my homework and studies. The food and tea of the hostel are fine, but not as fine as those of the home. I get clean clothes and my room remains well maintained.

As, some-one has wisely said,

“Silence gives consent.”

More about hostel life, I shall tell you when I am with you during the summer vacation. Pay my regards to mother and love to children.

Yours affectionately,

X. Y. Z.

Letter for Brilliant Students

Write a letter to your father/mother about your view of hostel life.

Or Telling him/her why you dislike hostel life.

May 26, 2023.

          Dear Father,

Asslam-o-Alaikum! I am feeling happy to reply your kind letter, which I received last week. Letters of parents, no doubt, are source of pleasure, especially for those who are living away from them. As far as the hostel life is concerned, it has its pleasures and displeasures. The students, who have little interest in their studies, feel free here. As, some-one has wisely said,

“The hostel life is a platform of merry making for sluggish students.”

Disregard of their studies, they indulge in side-activities. However, one does not find the hostel life fit, if he really wants to develop his future.

I feel that the hostel is not a place worth living. Many naughty and mischievous boys are staying here. They indulge in hideous activities. They keep on making noise every time. Many of the boys are idle and sluggish. They do nothing  except raising slogans and clamour (scream). All this excitement is contrary to the pleasant atmosphere required for a diligent student. You know that I always prefer a calm and peaceful environment for my studies. As, some-one has wisely said,

“Silence gives consent.”

I do not like any sort of disturbance. Whenever I sit to study, there occurs some commotion that disturbs my concentration. What a horrible idea, it would be for me to stay here for two years! As, it is wisely said,

“Peace is needed at any price.”

I have discussed the matter with a few of my friends who live near my college. They have assured me to find small portion of a house on rent. For the time being, my friend Niaz is arranging to accommodate me in his house, till I find a peaceful rented dwelling.

Father, I seek your permission to leave the hostel and settle in my friend's house, temporarily, because under the present circumstances, I am unable to pay full attention to my studies. Hoping for a favourable response at your end,

Pay compliments to all at home.

 Yours affectionately,

X. Y. Z.
