18. Write a letter to your younger brother/friend advising him to take proper interest in his studies and keep away from had company.

Dear Brother,

                   Asslam-o-Alaikum! I express it is very painfully that you are not paying heed to your studies. Instead, you have indulged in bad habits in association of your bad friends. Your previous result was not satisfactory.

You failed in Mathematics and English and you got only passing marks in other subjects. You are required to improve your studies for your bright future. Not only you are darkening your future but also damaging your personality and character. You must know that one can survive in good society just by gaining knowledge and technical skills.

What a disgusting habit smoking is! I am extremely disappointed to hear from one of your friends that you have started smoking. Leave such miserable activities and accomplish the purpose for which you have joined hostel.

At the moment, leaving your bad habits is easy as you have recently indulged in them. Once you are used to these habits, it will be nearly impossible to get rid of them.

Hoping for a favourable response at your end,

          Dear Brother,

                   Asslam-o-Alaikum! I hope, you will be quite well along with the members of your family. I have received a letter from father. He is much worried about your activities. He has complained that you are wasting your time and health in smoking and other useless activities. I think that you do not know about the importance of health. As, some-one has rightly said,

“Health and good state of body are above all goods.”

Dear brother, smoking is harmful to health and a science student cannot afford such carelessness. You know that the merit in professional colleges is going high and high. Unless, you get outstanding marks, there can be no hope of getting admission in any professional college. I think, it is rightly said,                 

    “He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything.” 

Then, you will realize the importance of hard work. Therefore, I advise you to give up smoking and all your social activities and devote yourself fully to your books. You must remember that our father is not a rich man. He has to work hard to meet our educational expenses. As it is said,

“Success lies under continuous hard working without losing hope”.

We must do our best to come up to his expectations. Hopefully, you will mend your ways and learn as much as possible from your worthy teachers and the books. You will realize that inculcating the habit of hard work is extremely essential for leading a successful and balanced life. As it is rightly said, 

“Hard work is the key to success.”

I hope, you will start acting on my advice.
