KINDS OF NOUN

1.    Proper Noun

The name of a particular person, place or thing is called “proper” noun, such as, Ali, Alia, Allama Iqbal, Lahore, Ravi, The Holy Quran.

(It always begins with a capital letter.)

2.    Common (Improper) Noun

The name of any common person, place or thing is called “common (improper) noun” such as, man, city, river, book, forest.

3.    Collective Noun

The name of any group of persons, places or things which is spoken of as a whole is called “collective” noun, such as, army, class, team and flock. (It generally takes as singular)

4.    Material Noun:-

The name of matter or substance of which anything is made is called “material” noun, such as, gold, silver, wood, iron, cotton, milk, water

5.    Abstract Noun

The name of any quality, state or action is called “abstract” noun, such as, (honesty, truth, kindness, wisdom,) (death, birth, child hood, poverty, (love, hatred, theft)

6.    Countable Nouns

The name of any person, thing or place which we can count is called “countable” noun, such as, book, man, pen, apple, and city.

7.    Uncountable Nouns

The name of any person thing or place which we can not count is called “uncountable” noun, such as, milk, oil, sugar, honesty, love, wisdom.
