KINDS OF ADVERB
i. Adverb of Time
:-
The adverb which gives a sense of
“When” or when the incident has taken place is called adverb of time, such as,
·
He comes here daily.
·
I have heard this before.
·
I hurt my knee yesterday.
ii. Adverb of Frequency :-
The adverb which gives a sense of” how often “ of how often the
incident has taken place is called adverb of frequency, such as,
·
I have to hold you twice.
·
He often makes mistakes.
·
He always tries to do his best.
iii. Adverb of Frequency :-
The
adverb which gives a sense of “where” or where the incident has taken place is
called adverb of place, such as,
·
Stand here
·
He looked up.
·
My brother is out.
iv. Adverb of Manner :-
The
adverb which gives a sense of “in what manner” (how) or in what manner someone
has behaved is called adverb of manner, such as,
·
The boy works hand.
·
The child slept soundly.
·
You should not do so.
v. Adverb of Quantity or Degree :-
The
adverb which gives a sense of “how much or in what degree or to what extent”
(or how much quantity of the thing is) is called adverb of quantity, such as,
·
He was too careless.
·
You are quite wrong.
·
I am fully prepared.
vi. Adverb of Affirmation or Negation:-
The adverb
which gives a sense of affirmation or negation is called adverb of affirmation
or negation such as,
·
Surely you are mistaken.
·
He certainly went.
·
I do not know him.
vii. Adverb of Affirmation or Negation:-
The
adverb which gives a sense of reason or cause is called adverb of reason, such
as,
·
He is hence unable to refute the charge.
·
He therefore, left school.
viii. Adverb of Affirmation or Negation:-
The
adverb (or relative pronoun) which refers back to a noun is called relative
adverb, such as,
·
This is the reason why I left.
·
Do you know the time when the Punjab Mail arrived?
·
I remember the house where I was born.
