“Try Again”

William Edward Hickson was born on January 7, 1803. He was a British educational writer. He wrote an “improved” version of the British National Anthem. His beautiful and thought-provoking short poem “Try Again” was often quoted in 19th century children’s literature. In this poem, the poet gives us a lesson that “Try again” to get success, because

“Success lies under continuous hard working without losing hope”.

The poet tells us not to lose hope when things go wrong. He advises us not to give up if we fail in our first attempt. He says, instead of giving up, we should try again. It is said,

Never lose hope; if one door shuts down, God opens the other door”.

The poet thinks that it is no disgrace in failing to reach our goal for the first time. With patience and steady efforts, we will be able to reach our goal. As, it is rightly said,

“Slow and steady wins the race”.

So, we should always try again and again .The poet says, “If at first, you don’t succeed, try again. Because our continuous struggle would make us courageous and if we persist (persevere) steadily, we will get success. As, it is rightly said,

“Try, try again till you succeed.”

The poet says, if you persevere (continue), you will conquest, never fear of failure, because

Failure is the teacher.”

Failure means you have done something wrong. We can’t always be successful for the first time. It takes time to learn, to get experience and to succeed. It is common that you may fail at first because you do not have experience to do a particular thing. As it is said,

“Practice makes a man perfect”.

“Try, try again till you succeeded.”

The poet also wants to teach us one of the best lessons of life that first we make mistakes, and then we learn to do things through our mistakes.

“A successful man gets profit from his mistakes

and tries again in a different way.”

The poet says, if you persevere (continue), you will conquest, never fear of failure, because

“Failure is the good lesson for the people to learn how to succeed.

Failure is the teacher.”

So, we should never fear of any hurdle, failure or difficulty and keep on trying. If we act the principle of trying again and again, we would become hardworking, brave, courageous, successful and respectable. Because it is said,

“Courage doesn't always roar.

Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,

"I will try again tomorrow.”

Instead of giving up the attempt after you fail, you should learn from your failure. Failure means you have done something wrong. We can’t always be successful for the first time. It takes time to learn, to get experience and to succeed. It is common that you may fail at first because you do not have experience to do a particular thing. As it is said,

We often get frustrated; we may even give up because of the fear of failing. It is certain that we will have to go through great difficulties before we reach our goals in our lives .Nobody knows only success.

“Try again” is the only way to be successful if you don’t give up, one day .you will be successful.

“Success is brought by continuous labour and struggle.

Don’t hesitate for a moment to try again”.
