Summary of Daffodils
The beautiful poem “Daffodils” is written by a famous poet “William Wordsworth”. His poetry describes his sentiments and
emotions. In this poem, the poet describes the pleasant experience of his life.
He is rightly called the poet of nature. As, it is wisely said,
“Nature is the art of God.”
One day, when the poet was wandering, at
once he saw a host of gold daffodils. These flowers were under the trees beside
the lake. They were dancing joyfully in the cool breeze. As, it is rightly
said,
“Where flowers
degenerate man can not live”
The waves in the lake also seemed to be dancing
happily with the daffodils. The sight of beautiful flowers gave the poet a
wealth of joy and pleasure. As, it is
rightly said,
“A thing of beauty is a joy forever.”
The flowers were so enchanting and
awe-inspiring. The poet was compelled to look at them and preserved them in his
memory. He collected the pleasant memories which would continue to delight him
forever. As, it is wisely said,
“Look deep into nature and
then you will understand everything
better.”
Now the poet describes that daffodils have become a permanent source of
pleasure for him. Whenever, he sits alone on couch in vacant and pensive mood, the
beautiful scene of those beautiful daffodils comes on his mind and his heart
fills pleasure. As, he has said,
“In vacant or
in pensive mood;
They flash upon that inward eye;
Which is the bliss of solitude?”
The main theme of the poem is that objects of nature
give double pleasure to man; firstly, when he sees them and secondly, when he
recalls them.
“Study
nature, Love nature, Stay close to nature.”
