Write a letter to your cousin/uncle/friend/brother describing him about the choice of books.
Examination Hall,
A.B.C. (City)
May 26, 2023.
Dear Cousin/Friend,
Asslam-o-Alaikum!
With great
blessings of Allah Almighty, I am enjoying sound health and hope that the same
case will be with you because,
“Health and good state of body are above all
goods.”
It is my pleasure that you have started extensive
study. Of course, just intensive reading of syllabus books is not enough for
gaining knowledge. As
it is said,
“Books add a lot
to our knowledge.
They are our best
friends.”
Now, the question arises that what
kind of books should be studied. I think, choice of books is more important
than reading books. As, some-one has rightly said,
"Some books are to be tested, others to be swallowed
and some
few to be chewed and digested."
In the choice of books, two things should always be kept
in mind, our taste and our aim. Secondly, we must know the end for which we
want to read books. As, it is rightly said,
"Read with a
purpose" is, therefore,
the advice given by Lord to
students.
In choosing books, we must always aim at the best
book, the most authoritative book by the best writer on the subject. I hope to develop the same
fine taste. I shall buy some interesting books and novels for my collection.
You can also read them because now I believe that,
“Reading of books is a pleasure
but to own them is
bliss.”
Such a book may be costly, but it is better to lose money than to lose time and energy. We are to select the most recent book on the subject. We should never read a dull book when an interesting book on the same subject is available. If I buy some books, I shall send them to you. But it is always said,
“He who lends a book is an idiot.
He who returns the book is more of an idiot.”
Pay my regards to all at home.
Yours
affectionately,
X.Y.

Letter for Brilliant Students
Write a letter to your cousin/uncle/friend/brother describing him about the choice of books.
Examination Hall,

Dear Cousin/Friend,
Asslam-o-Alaikum!
With great
blessings of Allah Almighty, I am enjoying sound health and hope that the same
case will be with you because,
“Health and good state of body are above all
goods.”
It is my pleasure that you have
started extensive study. Of course, just intensive reading of syllabus books is
not enough for gaining knowledge. As it is said,
“Books add a
lot to our knowledge.
They are our best
friends.”
Now, the question arises that what
kind of books should be studied. I think, choice of books is more important
than reading books. The abundance of books daily pouring out is so
inconceivable and time at mean's disposal is so short, that it is not possible to exhaust the whole
store. As, some-one has rightly said,
"Some books are to be tested, others to be
swallowed
and some
few to be chewed and digested."
In the choice of books, two things should always be kept
in mind, our taste and our aim. Secondly, we must know the end for which we
want to read books. It is necessary to know not only what you want to read but
why you want to read some particular books.
"Read with a
purpose" is, therefore,
the advice given by Lord to
students.
You should also seek the help of your elders/teachers
whenever possible to proceed in the choice of books. In choosing books, we must
always aim at the best book, the most authoritative book by the best writer on
the subject. I
hope to develop the same fine taste. I shall buy some interesting books and
novels for my collection. You can also read them because now I believe that,
“Reading of books is a pleasure
but to own them is
bliss.”
Such a book may be costly, but it is better to lose money than to lose time and energy. We are to select the most recent book on the subject. This is specially so about books on the progressive branches of knowledge law, medicine, science etc. The old books are often worse than misleading, if not positively dangerous. We should never read a dull book when an interesting book on the same subject is available. If I buy some books, I shall send them to you. But it is always said,
“He who lends a book is an idiot.
He who returns the book is more of an idiot.”
All books are not of the same value, nor can our
interest be equally distributed among all. Hence, there must be difference of
treatment with reference to different books.
Pay my regards to all at home.
Yours
affectionately,
X.Y.
Z.
